Paid for NYE fireworks and missed most of them

点评：We booked a New Year's Eve Cruise to see the Sydney fireworks with 3 other couples at a cost of AUD $1617 per couple which was to include 5 course buffet and unlimited drinks.. Starting with the positive, the food was excellent and plentiful. However, although drinks were technically unlimited this was restricted by the fact that there was only one member of bar staff for most of the evening, resulting in long queues. Also, later on in the evening they restricted us to one drink per person at the bar, so that I couldn't even get my wife's drink and she had to come down from our seats on the top deck via narrow steps to the bar on the lower deck to queue again and get her own drink, which seemed bizarre.
However we didn't let that spoil the evening, but what followed most certainly did. At 15 mins to midnight, the captain positioned the boat perfectly sideways on for us to enjoy the fireworks and view of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Then at 5 mins to midnight, for reasons known only to him he decided to turn the boat 90 degrees so forward facing the bridge. This meant that 80% of the passengers who were on the rear deck had no view of the bridge whatsoever. Sure, we could see some of the fireworks in the sky but as everyone knows, the iconic part of this display is the fireworks launched from the bridge and various light shows and messages displayed. I had been before and told my friends what an experience it was and felt really let down when we needlessly missed so much of it.
I believe that Vagabond should explain what happened and offer at least a partial refund to passengers who paid an awful lot of money !
