点评：We made a quick stop at Clonmacnoise on our way to the Cliffs of Moher, and it turned out to be one of those unexpectedly memorable highlights of the drive.
Set right along the River Shannon, the site has an incredibly peaceful, almost timeless feel. The ancient ruins, round towers, and weathered Celtic crosses give you a real sense of Ireland’s deep history without needing a ton of time to explore. It’s compact enough for a quick visit, but rich enough that you feel like you experienced something meaningful.
Even with a short stop, walking through the grounds and taking in the scenery was well worth it. It’s an easy, worthwhile break from the drive and a perfect contrast before heading to the dramatic coastline later in the day.
If you’re making the trip across the country, Clonmacnoise is a great place to stretch your legs, soak in some history, and enjoy a quieter, more reflective side of Ireland
