Kyiv and all of Ukraine remains an active warzone, be mindful of air alerts when visiting this site especially if you climb to the top of the shield as despite the great views you will be at significant during Russian air attacks, which remain frequent. The monument and museum below it are worth a visit. The views are of Kyiv and the Dnipro, best to climb to the shield if you want the best views, but be aware of the risk as it takes time to ascend and descend. If it's hit by a drone or missile, the ending will be quick.
The museum at the base of the monument speaks to the history of the monument. It also has the prior hammer and sickle emblem on the shield, which was removed when the full-scale invasion began in 2022, and was replaced with the Ukrainian trident. The museum at the base also has a World War II museum which is mostly in Russian and Ukrainian - language updates remain a work in progress.
