*Very Unsafe and Disorganized – Cannot Recommend*
Carnaval de Barranquilla的点评
点评：I attended the Carnaval of Barranquilla with high expectations, but unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing and unsafe.
During the event “Baila en la Calle,” I was mugged by a group of individuals — including the same person who had sold us the tickets. What was most shocking is that this happened with police officers stationed roughly 20 meters away. After reporting the incident, the officer told me there was nothing they could do. The lack of response and protection was deeply concerning.
The main parade, “Batalla de las Flores,” was also highly disorganized. Access to the palcos (stands) felt unsafe and poorly managed. I witnessed staff allowing people to enter without tickets, which resulted in overcrowded and oversold seating areas. There were more people than seats available, and this led to multiple fights among attendees because there was simply no space to sit. Crowd control appeared nonexistent.
After the show, the situation became even more alarming. At the exits, organized criminal groups were actively targeting people. A common tactic involved spraying foam into victims’ faces and then quickly stealing wallets or phones from their pockets while they were distracted. It felt coordinated and deliberate.
We also attended other events in the city, including Old Parr Flow, and unfortunately experienced the same level of insecurity.
It is very sad to say this because the cultural aspect of the carnival is beautiful, but the severe lack of security, organization, and accountability made the experience stressful and dangerous. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend attending.
