点评:Santa Teresa is something like Paris Montmartre - it's an uphill area of quaint shops, bars and restaurants, as well many tiny artisan galleries selling their own handmade art (not junk you find on Copa).
TIPS FOR VISIT:
- The logical and most relaxing way to visit is to reach the top of Santa Teresa first, and then descend your way down which will conclude at the Selaron staircase,
- Reaching the top can be done by the old scenic Bondinho tram, however have in mind this tram is very popular with an hour or two waiting time. Also know that locals going on it have priority as this is their mean of transport uphill. Therefore, in peak season and peak times just take Uber to Largo dos Guimaraes and from there descend your way down - you'll see the tram many times uphill anyway,
- STAY on the main street - do not walk and enter side streets and alleys, remember you're in Rio,
- Have a local meal and drink at one of many bars/restaurants along the way,
- Buy some amazing handcrafts to support local community - They're more expensive than beach junk but authentic,
- Visit Parque das Ruinas - free art gallery in abandoned ruins with great views of Rio from top floor,
- Start after 9 AM and finish before sunset - before and after these hours is not recommended to go. Count on around 3 hours for a proper visit.
