点评:Too often we travel from one major destination to the next, too eager to pause and explore…guilty as charged!
This time a detour led me to the tiny community of Bluff, Utah, where I encountered Twin Rocks, which is both a cafe and a gallery—I recommend both and will make time to visit again.
First the gallery. This is not a souvenir operation, rather it is like a mini-museum of fine and genuine Native American arts and sometimes you are there when the artist themselves come in to bring some new items, something you don’t see unless you attend the famous Indian Markets, fairs or auctions. Best of all, you are welcome and so are your questions, like, ever wonder how long it takes for the fleece to become the rug??? Knowing that will make me think very differently about the rug I arranged to purchase. Exploring this way is so much more than selfies!
Next the Cafe. Although it was later than normal for breakfast, I had to have the blue corn pancakes. Yes, the corn is a deep bluish color and definitely not the box mix variety. Again my curiosity got the better of me, it is a indigenous corn, ground for this use, delicious and another reason to stop again, thank you, Twin Rocks!
Last postscript, I had a bit of a drive ahead of me leaving Bluff, but my cooler carried a box lunch like the kind they pack for fire crews working active wildfires in the area. Needless to say, You don’t leave town on an empty stomach!
Twin Rocks!
