Hévíz Thermal Lake: High Expectations and Practical Realities

点评：Visiting the Hévíz Thermal Lake had been on my bucket list for a long time, setting very high expectations for the experience. However, as someone who loves summer and warm weather, the actual temperature of the lake was a bit of a disappointment. Even my partner, who generally prefers cooler temperatures, felt the same way, and we were later told the water used to be warmer than it is nowadays. Consequently, we only spent about 10 to 15 minutes in the water before retreating indoors.
We then spent time trying to warm up in the wellness area, access to which was complimentary with our lake ticket during this period. However, we found the facility to be quite small and limited, containing only two pools, one sauna, one infra-sauna, one steam room, one tepidarium, and a small nature sauna. Furthermore, the indoor pool temperatures were not as warm as we had hoped.
For those planning a visit, be aware of a few logistical points. While we purchased 3-hour tickets at our hotel, the thermal lake reception is currently only offering 2-hour tickets, though you can purchase an extension for an extra hour. This limited access is likely due to a major renovation project expected to last one to two years. Crucially, access is restricted to the Festetics Entrance only, and opening hours are shorter during the winter season, so visitors must check the schedule before they go.
