Ramped course, marshalling desperately needed
Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club的点评
点评：Ile aux Cerfs is an exquisite course, short but very challenging. Unfortunately it seems every golfer in Mauritius descends on it, and while that’s understandable given its unique setting on a small island, its design and its history, unless players are managed properly before and throughout their round, this will soon become a course to absolutely avoid because of excruciatingly slow play.
My suggestions are a) set sensible handicap limits on golfers eligible to play here (the course is tough, so it’s no use whacking your ball 300 yards if you can’t control its direction; b) dictate the tees players can use, depending on their handicap; and c) marshall the course throughout, instructing slow fourballs holding up play to pick up if necessary.
We played two rounds here. The first was okay, the second was so slow that we gave up after nine holes and saw another group stacked behind us give up too. There is no way we’d have wanted a third round here. This is an iconic course that could easily be ruined by greed and seems to be halfway there already. I really hope some urgent action is taken to limit the numbers on it and to control the pace of play.
