点评:We drove independently to Punta Laguna and spent a nice couple of hours.
We paid only for admission to the national park - not the zip-lining, etc.
We just wanted to do the jungle walk to see the monkeys and other nature.
We opted for a guide and got Alfredo - a friendly, knowledgeable young man with good English. Alfredo is Maya and he brought some interesting insights.
We saw both the howler monkeys - from a distance as they're pretty shy or cautious - and also the spider monkeys, who don't seem habituated to human contact, just curious, coy, playful (with one another) and trusting.
We didn't try to approach them, taking an "observe only" approach, but the young ones came within just a few metres of us - swinging, climbing, jumping, roughhousing, and generally being kids. The adults were at a distance up in the trees and when it was time for the group to move on and settle in for the evening, they called to the youngsters and they (slowly - reluctantly?) followed.
We enjoyed our time. It was worth the drive out from Tulum.
