A wonderful find – fabulous food and even better hospitality
Rosie and I had an absolutely terrific evening here.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. Ziggy, Andrew and the whole team, including the owner, William Sitwell, were quite simply superb — warm, charming, attentive and genuinely interested in making sure we had a wonderful evening. It’s that sort of hospitality that turns a very good meal into a memorable one.
And the food really was excellent. The lamb chops were beautifully cooked and full of flavour, while the gnocchi was rich, indulgent and delicious. Everything coming from the kitchen looked as though real care had gone into it.
But my winner was the chocolate mousse with cream and sea salt. Decadent, silky and intensely chocolatey, with just enough salt to cut through the richness. It was outrageously good — the sort of pudding that makes all thoughts of moderation seem rather pointless.
A good bottle of Bordeaux helped matters along nicely.
Wonderful food, lovely surroundings and, above all, exceptional people. Rosie and I ate well, drank well, laughed a lot and had a fabulous evening and stay.
A cracking place run by people who clearly care. We would return in a heartbeat.
