点评：We attended Mr Sitwell’s supper club at The White Hart a couple of weeks ago. The staff were excellent, the food superb, the Perrier-Jouet champagne plentiful and delicious, the ambiance relaxed and friendly. Mr Sitwell’s restaurant and pub are lovely, and had we not stayed overnight this would have been a 5-star review. Alas, the bedrooms are still very much work in progress. Very poor water pressure in the shower, very basic room amenities, poor sound-proofing, but hardly surprising in such an old building. Also, there was no heat in the radiators in bedroom or bathroom. On the positive side, the bedding was good and comfortable. Breakfast was also very good, with freshly squeezed orange juice and food freshly prepared to order.
Wiviliscombe may have its charms, but I am unsure whether there is sufficient footfall to make Mr Sitwell’s venture a commercial success. Why did The White Hart close previously? Death or retirement of owner? Badly run? Not enough visitors? I wish Mr Sitwell every success, but he will also need lots of luck and great publicity.
