Relaxed, excellent cooking

点评：A great addition to the local restaurant scene. Went on a Friday night for dinner and the place was heaving. A huge table from a local shoot was noisy but otherwise didn’t seem to disturb the smooth running of the kitchen: our orders were taken and food delivered smoothly and without delay.
Dinner was delicious. Ignore the haters who think Wivey (and the area) doesn’t need this: it does. Simple-sounding dishes (pappardelle with beef ragu and chicken Milanese for our mains) were really delicious and beautifully rendered and we washed it all down with a lovely Barbaresco. The ragu looked small but was super-rich; the chicken would almost serve two! Sides and starters were also excellent. Frankly, I’d share a pudding next time.
Best of all was the service: all very relaxed but happy. We didn’t feel rushed at all and didn’t leave until nearly midnight.
Congratulations to the new owners and team for taking this on at a tough time. They deserve our support and hopefully this will be a long-lasting success.
