点评:There was a line of children leading out the back of the landing and up the hill. They all put their hands out to touch us and hoped we would give them money as we went by.
I saw a sign for a boat ride for $5/person to see “Natural Beauties”. I was picturing the giant lily pads, but I was wrong. The route to the boat was through a muddy pathway with our feet getting covered in mud (and my pant legs as well). An older man handled the motor which vibrated in his hands. Most of the boats used a Honda GX160 motor. His gasoline was in one liter plastic Coke bottles. Our boat had a roof over the top. My wife got in first and she was followed by a young boy. I got in next and had a young boy sitting by me. Another couple got in front of the boat. The gunnels had only inches of free board. We passed many other boats going and coming back. We saw Brama cattle and a large hog as well as many different birds. We passed several homes on stilts many with colorful paintings and many very dilapidated. We passed a wide cement stairway leading up a hill and there was a truck parked at the top. We did not stop here. We went to the end of the waterway and turned around and went back to the start. At the end I paid the boat operator $10, and we gave each boy $5.
We walked back towards the houses passing children with sloths and camans. People were dressed in native attire and wanted money to take their pictures. We turned around and headed back towards the landing. There was a lady collecting money for school supplies and I gave her a donation. I then got a picture of three children with camans and two children with a mother and baby three-toed sloth. We managed to get back to the landing without further obstruction. At the landing they were selling very colorful tee shirts for $12.
