Short side trip from Sea to Sky Gondola base, lovely falls

点评：This was our first destination after getting off the Squamish Connector shuttle at Sea to Sky Gondola parking lot on Tue, 23 Sep. We wanted to make the most of our day in Squamish and Shannon Falls' proximity to Sea to Sky Gondola base made this side trip a no-brainer. We immediately made our way to the trailhead at the rear of the parking lot and followed the Shannon Falls Connector Trail. We leisurely hiked the well-marked 600m trail which took us about 16 mins due to frequent short stops while we read interpretive panels and took photos.
We arrived at the main viewpoint at 9:25AM. Though there were only a few people here at the time, we chose to check out the base (creek) first. We followed the descending trail, at one point stopping to admire several towering Western red cedar trees along the path. We returned to the main viewpoint after 10 mins so we could snap souvenir photos—this is the top photo spot, in fact, there's a huge boulder to pose on, with lovely Shannon Falls in the background. Afterwards, we followed the sign to the upper viewing deck. We had no idea it would involve a 5-min stair cardio workout but the rewarding view—a closer view of Shannon Falls—was totally worth the effort. On the day of our visit, flow was less rushing water and more of a continuous trickle which left the granite cliffs clearly visible.
Highly recommend doing a short side trip to Shannon Falls when visiting Sea to Sky Gondola. There's no extra cost involved and would take less than an hour of your time unless you plan to stay longer. Scheduling it in the morning (on a weekday) before the gondola ride worked great for us. We had the connector trail almost to ourselves and didn't have to deal with crowds at the falls viewpoints.
