A sobering experience exceptionally delivered
Workhouse Museum & Garden的点评
点评：From the entrance it looks small. But, expands as you are greeted by warm and knowledgeable staff who do not spare any of the torment the paupers and vagrants went through trying to and if successful granted a place to stay. The personal stories found on the walls across the site explained the tightrope most people of the time trod, so easy to fall and end up in the Workhouse if you were “Lucky”. The atmosphere is enhanced with background sounds which make the inmates come alive you are not alone. A varied set of hands on activities to take you with the inmates. The garden and outside spaces are worth exploring, be curious. We came away with a sense of sadness for those who were taying here but also a clear understanding that the alternative was far more depressing. History brought to life with no frills.
