The whole family, kids to grandparents, enjoyed a day at Bowood
Bowood House & Gardens的点评
点评:Bowood is a Grade I listed Georgian country house between Calne and Chippenham in Wiltshire. It has been owned by the Fitzmaurice family for more than 250 years. The house, with interiors by Robert Adam, stands in extensive grounds which include a garden designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. The greater part of the house was demolished in 1956 after it became dilapidated. The small house was restored and one wing is open to visitors today, while the remainder of the house is the private residence. One of the rooms was the laboratory of Joseph Priestley, who discovered oxygen there in 1774.
There are gravel paths around the extensive grounds suitable for wheelchairs and push chairs. Formal talianate terrace gardens near the house extend to landscaped gardens around the lake with a waterfall and Doric temple folly.
There is an adventure playground and for younger visitors an indoor play area and pedal rides. On a rainy day there was also an indoor area for drawing and crafts. The cafes at the entrance gate and in the house served drinks and simple meals at a reasonable price.
The whole family, kids to grandparents, enjoyed a day at Bowood even in the rain.
