Serenity at Quarr Abbey
Quarr Abbey的点评
点评：Today our family of three — two adults and our 12-year-old daughter — visited Quarr Abbey. We’ve visited several times before and always enjoy the peaceful sanctity of the place.
Although it’s a popular destination, it never feels overwhelmed with visitors, and we were still able to enjoy the stillness of the Abbey Church and the beautiful gardens.
We enjoyed seeing the piggies, including the mumma pig and her piglets happily enjoying a muddy wallow! We also visited the shop, the artists’ gallery and the museum at the back, which tells you all about the Abbey and the daily lives of the monks who live there.
We decided to have lunch while we were there and didn’t mind the 30-minute wait at the café, as we’d found a lovely shady table beneath the large willow tree in the garden. We each had something different — I had quiche, my other half had a cheese and ham toastie, and my daughter had a large brioche bap with generous fish goujons. Each meal came with fresh salad, homemade slaw and fries. The portions were a good size, and everything was delicious.
A thoroughly enjoyable day, as always, and I’m sure we’ll be visiting again.
