Quarr Abbey的点评
点评：Quarr Abbey is a beautiful tranquil place and well worth a visit. It's FREE entry and free parking too - donations welcome and encouraged. The staff were great, enthusiastic and caring. We had a nice cream tea in the cafe. The shop is well stocked with a range of quality items and we happily purchased various souvenirs here. The map at the entrance (see photo) helps you get your bearings and signage is prominent to keep you guided as you go around the estate. We purchased a guidebook (recommended) and read more about the work of the abbey later. There are walks in the area and wildlife abounds. Pigs (see photo) are located behind a fence and you can purchase food with which to feed them. The Abbey is accessible and the public area clearly defined. Visitors are welcome (and encouraged) to visit a service. If you get the ferry from Ryde, the abbey is visible from the boat. It's quite near to the sea, although we did not see the sea from the areas of the site we visited. A small museum and bookshop gives further information on the life and work of the monks. There is also a space which showcases various other local things - when we visited a craft exhibition was in situ. You could come here more than once and for example take a walk, feed the pigs, enjoy an afternoon tea........
Dog friendly - heed the signage and keep your dog on a lead. Accessible for the mobility impaired. Clean toilets. Well kept. Lovely place.
