A Five-Star Pour with Guide Kane at Woodford Reserve

点评：A visit to the Woodford Reserve Distillery is a ‘must experience’ if you’re on the KY Bourbon Trail in the Versailles area. The grounds were beautiful with distinctive, limestone warehouses. The gravity-fed, Barrel Run System for moving product between buildings was pretty cool, adding to the special atmosphere. We hadn’t seen anything like the open mash cooking nor the distinctive stills (something out of the Wizard of OZ) at any of our other 5 distillery stops.
The highlight was our tour guide, Kane. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. If you’re lucky enough to connect with Kane, your experience at Woodford becomes that much more fascinating. The five bourbon sample tastings at the end of the tour were just right. And remember to save that chocolate covered bourbon ball to pare with your last tasting sample.
