点评:Well, it is what it is but what it is isn't what I thought. Yeah, this is an historic building and all but I found it very disappointing and not what I expected based on the reviews and photos upon which I selected this as an activity for our Budapest family vacation. The building was built in 1859 to replace its predecessor destroyed by the French in 1848, it was renovated in 2006 and seems virtually brand new on the inside. The TripAdvisor photos are impressive but you should know that all that impressive marble you see is just faked as painting on plaster. Not impressive at all in person. The main performance hall is also just a big room with a 2 story seating gallery around the perimeter, not a "concert hall" like you'd see at the Budapest Opera House (Waaaaay more impressive). We took a tour and the guide seemed great but I messed up and booked the wrong one, which was in Hungarian (we don't speak Hungarian!) so we didn't understand a word of it (my bad!). Anyway, I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend spending time touring this building. A performance might be enjoyable.
