点评:I dropped my daughter off at Stoney Cove this morning and ended up wasting around 40 minutes because of what I feel is a poorly thought-out parking system.
The car park allows 20 minutes free before you have to register your vehicle, with signs warning of a £100 charge if you don't. Normally I would have left well within the free period, but my daughter asked me to stay until she had gone inside, which meant I went over the 20-minute limit.
At that point I needed to register my car, but the only way to do so was at the shop, which hadn't opened yet. When I later tried to drive down there, I was turned back by the parking stewards, who understandably thought I was trying to access a pre-booked parking area. They were polite, but they hadn't been given enough information about how the parking system actually works and couldn't explain exactly what would or wouldn't trigger a parking charge.
In the end, I walked to the shop where a helpful member of staff quickly sorted everything out. He was great, and this review isn't aimed at him or the stewards, who were doing their best with the information they had.
My frustration is with the system itself. It creates a situation where someone can unintentionally exceed the free period for a perfectly reasonable reason and then struggle to register their vehicle because of the way the process is set up. It felt like a no-win situation, causing unnecessary stress and wasting a significant amount of time.
I'm posting this partly to get it off my chest, but mostly in the hope that the management will take this feedback on board. A few simple improvements to the parking process and better guidance for staff could prevent other visitors from having the same frustrating experience.
I have given a 2 star instead of a 1 star because of the nice man in the shop.
