点评:Driving into the property, it looked like there was a city park being extended from this area. There is a huge iron arch over this future park. The landscaping wasn’t in yet but the trails and pathways look wonderful.
Quinta Mazatlan was made out of Adobe bricks by the first owner in the 30s. He was an interesting character. He made all the bricks, filled the pool with an airplane engine&had a hideaway accessible only by a rope ladder which he pulled up after him. The house is large and opulent with Hispanic tiles throughout. 3 families have owned it before donating it to the city.
Gave this only four stars because when I was there , there had recently been a freeze, and all of the vegetation was without leaves. There was also a small lake, which was under construction with lots of plastic and disturbed soil. However, there were interesting sculptures of trees that contain approximately 45 animals brass cast that are native to the Rio Grand Valley. They are all over the park scattered throughout the nice walking trails complete with informational signage. There was an area where they put out food for the birds. Lots of informational signage on the vegetation also . This is a good place to Birdwatch. While birdwatching, I became fascinated with how concrete benches- columns were made. They are concrete, but how did they get all those marbleized tones & texture? Is that pumice stone in the concrete?
