Picturesque, romantic, gothic and atmospheric!

点评：Castle Campbell must have been popular with the romantic poets, authors and painters of the late 18th and 19thC.
Spectacularly gothic, it sits at the top of a wonderful deep and leafy gorge, a nature reserve with its own temperate rainforest. Definitely worth a walk here!
The castle is really quite well preserved for an ancient building and you can see round many of its rooms, not furnished of course but augmented by nicely illustrated signboards in the main rooms. For the best views, head up to the roof!
Modest but well-tended terraced gardens bring colour and charm to this beautiful place, a perfect spot for a picnic! No cafe on site, though, but there is a small souvenir shop selling some snacks.
If you’re hungry, there is a good range of places to eat in Dollar, itself a very picturesque village to explore!
