Highlight of travelling through California to Nevada
World's Tallest Thermometer的点评
点评：Stopped in on our drive from Santa Monica to Las Vegas on a hot day in March. Definitely the most interesting thing for miles around. Cool, kitchty and feels like a retro time bubble (we Australians LOVE big things by the roadside!)
At the base, there is a store selling souvenirs and with decent bathrooms. I loved picking up a few postcards and a magnet which opens beers but also some serve some local native flora guide books I hadn’t been able to find anywhere else. These were particularly wonderful to have as we drove through the Mojave desert and helped me identify a few INaturalist uploads.
The man running the store was very knowledgeable and friendly and a pleasure to talk with. I dropped the postcards as I was leaving and he dashed out to give them to me before we drove away. That was so kind of him! He also wrapped up the magnets very carefully for travel. We bought a Route 66 magnet as a gift for my father-in-law and it safely made it back to Oz.
Taking some photos standing in front of the thermometer was a real highlight of the drive. Parking close was very easy and it was no trouble getting off and on the road. I highly recommend you stopping in to check it out. Don’t just drive past but actually take two minutes to have a look and support the family store.
I would definitely return and drop in on my way past again. If we do the LA-LV trip next year, I will remember to bring some Australian currency as they have framed international currency notes all over the walls.

我肯定会再来的，以后路过时也会顺道造访。如果明年我们计划从洛杉矶前往拉斯维加斯的话。我会记得带些澳大利亚货币，因为他们的墙上到处都挂着各种国家的货币纸币。
