Nice hike but not worth the new cost.

点评：We visited this park on the recommendation of our Air BnB Host when Manuel Antonio National Park was booked well advance for the holiday season. We opted to do the self-guided thing and had a big enough car that we felt comfortable driving directly there despite the bumpy access road. We had a nice time but our biggest complaint was the price. When we looked up online and saw that it was $23-$24 (later that evening) but then they charged us $27 at the counter it was frustrating and since there are no prices listed on site (and cell service is poor) we went with it. While that's not a huge difference, with 3 people we are paying over $80 to go on an unguided hike. This is more than I've ever paid to hike and more than what Manuel Antonio the national park itself charges. Our host told us as of even last year it was $20 so it must have increased.
The hike itself is nice and the hanging bridges provide very nice views of the area. The trail is well maintained so at least some of the fees must be going towards this. We saw almost no wildlife beyond a few birds and lizards so it wasn't the most exciting for the kids. At the same time, our 6 and 8 year old were able to manage it and the 5-6 "pools" below the water fall are refreshing (not too cold!) and offer a "reward" for the younger hikers that might need that.
If cost is not a consideration this is absolutely worth it (or if they decide to start doing $10 suggested donations like many places you can hike unguided). Otherwise, you can definitely find more "off-the-beaten" places and probably not pay anything, which, considering how pervasive the tourist traps are throughout the region, might be the way to go.
