We have just finished a private tour of the Atlit Detention Camp with Shaul, and it was truly mind-blowing. There are very few tourists in Israel at the moment, which made the experience feel even more special and intimate.
Shaul’s knowledge, passion, and ability to bring history to life were extraordinary. Our children learned more during this visit than they probably have in years of history lessons at school. He made the story accessible, powerful, and deeply moving for all of us.
The site itself is incredibly impressive and beautifully preserved. The exhibitions are highly interactive and exceptionally well designed. Walking through the barracks, visiting the reconstructed immigration ship, and seeing the plane made us feel as though we were stepping directly into history rather than simply learning about it.
This is an absolute must-see. Atlit is well worth planning a day around, and visiting the detention camp was one of the very best decisions we made during our entire trip to Israel.
