Affordable quality Game Reserve and Lodge Experience
Buffelsfontein Game & Nature Reserve - Day Tours的点评
点评：Our two-day stay at Buffelsfontein Game & Nature Reserve was an unforgettable experience.
We stayed in one of the self-catering cottages for two people (there are also cottages for four). We specifically chose this cottage because it is located close to one of the waterholes, and we were not disappointed. We were lucky enough to see many animals coming down to drink, including the famous rhinos White Rhinoceros Max and Lilly. Seeing these magnificent animals so close in their natural environment was truly amazing.
The cottages are simple and comfortable. They do not have air conditioning, so during very hot weather it can get quite warm. But we came for the wildlife experience rather than luxury, and the cottage was very neat and had everything we needed.
A helpful tip: stop in the nearby town of Yzerfontein to buy any groceries or supplies before heading to the reserve, so you don’t need to drive back and forth.
The reserve also has a beautiful swimming pool area with a bar and comfortable lounge chairs — perfect for relaxing outdoors after a game drive. We did the 90-minute game drive and it was fantastic. I would recommend taking the morning drive at 09:00, as the chances of seeing animals are usually better.
There is also a lovely restaurant on the reserve. The food was great, although it can get quite warm inside due to the pizza oven, so air conditioning might be a good future improvement.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our ranger, Willie, was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the animals. We absolutely loved the experience with him.
For visitors wanting more luxury, there are also beautiful stone cottages with air conditioning, as well as a large guesthouse.
Overall, this reserve is very affordable for ordinary South Africans and offers a fantastic opportunity to experience wildlife in nature. Even if you don’t stay overnight, you can still book a game drive for the day.
