点评:The "Altes Rathaus" (Old Town Hall) hosts the "Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig" (Leipzig City History Museum). The museum is all about Leipzig history, and it is divided into two sections:
- Leipzig Original (from early times to the Battle of Nations)
- Leipzig in Modern Times (from industrialization to present).
The "Leipzig Original" section is on the first floor of the old city hall (European standard - it's 2nd floor for Americans). There are over 1100 exhibits throughout the Historic rooms, the Banquet hall and the Council Chamber. The exhibits are about the city in general, and about some famous people such as Martin Luther, Lucas Cranach, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Richard Wagner and their links to Leipzig. I could also visit the "treasure dungeon", where the city treasure and money were kept.
The "Modern Times" section is on the 2nd floor (3rd floor for Americans).
All exhibits are explained in a detailed way in German, with a summary in English.
For me, the "Leipzig Original" is the most enjoyable part. The "Modern Times" section is also very good but somehow chaotic and less enjoyable.
- Leipzig Original(从早期到国家之战)
“Leipzig Original”
