ONE STAR ONLY BECAUSE ZERO IS NOT AN OPTION.
Absolutely one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had as a family.
From the moment we arrived, the hostess managed to make what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable family dinner feel uncomfortable and unnecessarily frustrating.
We politely asked to be seated toward the back of the restaurant, where we wanted to enjoy the sun and the atmosphere. My husband spoke to the hostess in English, and she replied in French. That was not the issue at all. The issue was her attitude, lack of professionalism, and complete unwillingness to accommodate a very simple request.
She simply told us NO, claiming that there were “too many people” in the back.
So we were seated at the front.
After we complained again, suddenly it became possible to move us to the back — exactly where we had asked to sit in the first place.
And guess what?
It was NOT crowded.
So what exactly was the reason for refusing us in the first place?
This is where restaurants need to understand something: being a hostess is not simply standing at the entrance and deciding where people are allowed to sit. Hospitality is a job. It requires communication, professionalism, courtesy, common sense, and knowing how to make customers feel welcome.
The younger generation may be fantastic at TikTok, Instagram, social media, trends, and creating content — but being good at TikTok does not automatically make someone good at dealing with customers or qualified to represent the first impression of a restaurant.
Put the phone down, forget TikTok for a moment, and learn what the word HOSPITALITY actually means.
A hostess is literally one of the first people customers interact with. If that first interaction is rude, dismissive, or unprofessional, the restaurant experience is already damaged before the food even reaches the table.
I eventually spoke with one of the managers, who apologized. I appreciate the apology, but unfortunately, by that point the damage had already been done. We came as a family hoping to relax, have a nice dinner, enjoy the atmosphere and spend quality time together — not to argue over something as basic as where we could sit in a half-empty section.
Restaurants spend enormous amounts of time thinking about their menu, décor and social-media image. Maybe some of that attention should also go toward training the people who actually interact with customers.
Great photos and TikTok videos might bring people through the door.
Good hospitality is what makes them want to come back.
Based on our experience, we certainly will not.
If I could rate the service and welcome below zero, I would.
Extremely disappointing. Completely unnecessary. And absolutely not the experience we expected.
