点评：It’s been a while since I last visited the Black Bull, reasons below. I ordered the Salt & Pepper fries from the bar menu — they arrived quickly and were very good, nicely cooked and well seasoned. Grazie mille, Franco.
As a long-standing local resident who has used the pub for over ten years, I’ve noticed a clear decline over the past 21 months, and the same issues affected this visit. A group at the bar were using very strong language throughout, which created an unwelcoming atmosphere. Several dogs were also moving freely around the pub, off lead and approaching customers, including those who were eating. These recurring problems have made the environment feel noticeably less comfortable than it once was.
I’ve also noticed that several reviews have not been complimentary, alongside this, there appears to be a pattern in some other reviews: very similar wording, repeated phrases, identical sentence structures, and the same small group of staff names appearing frequently. While this may simply reflect a close-knit team, the level of similarity makes it harder for readers to rely on the reviews as a broad and varied reflection of customer experiences.
Because Tripadvisor places such importance on trust and authenticity, I thought it was worth highlighting this pattern in case it’s useful for the moderation team. A wider mix of distinctive, detailed reviews would give future visitors a clearer and more reliable picture of what to expect.
I’m sharing this in good faith, as maintaining confidence in the review system benefits both customers and genuine contributors.
