A fab day in nature for all ages, membership well worth the money!
WWT Washington Wetland Centre的点评
点评：TLDR: Fabulous each and every time for all ages, a beautiful nature reserve well worth the money for anything from an hour to a full day out.
We visit the Wetlands regularly as we have an annual membership (£5ish per month), which we're in our 5th year with and definitely get our money's worth. Now we have a toddler it is fab exploring with him, from the play park with the mud kitchen, to spotting all the ducks and birds wherever you look. As we've been regularly we've seen the site in all seasons and each one has something new to see. In winter it's a beautiful crisp walk and the hides are great to rest in. Spring is so exciting with all the ducklings and nestlings, summer is fabulous - spending hours in the greenery does so much for your mental health and autumn sees stunning colours on the trees. Hawthorn Hide is by far my favourite to spend hours watching the birds (and very fat squirrels!). I don't understand some of the negative feedback here, it is quite clearly a conservation site so you are seeing a natural, mostly untouched version of the world rather than places like commercial zoos which cram all the animals together. If you like slowing down and spending time in nature in a beautifully looked after space, this place is for you. You can easily spend a whole day here. The cafe does good food but you can also bring a picnic (£8 for jacket potato's with VERY generous toppings, pastries and cakes from £3-7) and kids lunch boxes are £5.50 including large ham or cheese sandwich, crisps, milk carton, yogurt, fruit. The staff are helpful and friendly and happy to chat. It is an enormous site and you need to start making your way back to the carpark on time at the end of the day (there are signs everywhere telling you the cut off times) so you may be encouraged back - the carpark locks at closing time so don't get locked in! It's one of our weekly-fortnightly visits and so lucky that it's within 15 minutes drive for us!
