点评:The Loggia dei Lanzi doesn't always get the attention it deserves. Partly this is because it’s tucked off to the side of Piazza Della Signoria and partly it's because the piazza is dominated by the much more well known Palazzo Vecchio and the statue of David.
However it is a lovely little space, filled with about 10 Roman and Renaissance sculptures. It’s like a small open-air sculpture gallery. And it’s free.
One of the most famous of the statues here is Perseus and Medusa (1554) by Benvenuto Cellini.
It shows the moment when Perseus has defeated Medusa by cutting off her snakey head. He holds it triumphantly up in the air.
Piazza della Signoria is always very busy during the middle of the day. The crowds can be overwhelming but if you go very early in the morning, you can have the place almost to yourself.
