Allowing dogs in does not equate to dog friendly if there are no provisions. This is misrepresentation.

点评：Organised a day trip to Richmond recently with my husband and our very large dog. Used Tripadvisor to plan the trip taking into account the reviews provided to ensure a successful trip. We did the circular walk encompassing the abbey and castle, town for lunch then back to the abbey. I had only a few dog treats and a water bowl with me as I believed this would suffice being the pub was promoted as dog friendly, I could get him something to eat at the same time we humans ate.
Unfortunately, there was no provision for the dog, not even a water bowl was visible, although there was a water dispenser with glasses at the end of the bar. I asked our server what was available for our dog but my request was derided, claiming he didn't know anywhere that did food for dogs and that the costs and storage would be prohibitive and they're doing ok thus far without it. We are experienced day trippers and there are other establishments that cater very well for dogs and their owners - these are deserving of the phrase 'dog friendly' and are the raised bar by which other experiences are judged.
Our dog became very vocal as he was still hungry after finishing his treats so my husband had to take him outside so as not to disturb the other guests. It was a very cold day and he had to leave his food to stay outside with the dog . I ate half my sandwich then we swapped places so he could eat his food. This was supposed to be a family meal but we couldn't eat together. I counted four signs stating the pub was dog-friendly but there was no provisions for dogs. My appetite and the occasion was spoiled due to this misrepresentation by the pub and we won't be returning.
I have given two stars in my review because the location is good and my husband enjoyed his food.
