点评:I love hats and have long been intrigued by the chimney announcing HAT MUSEUM when travelling by train to Manchester. My friend and I decided it was time for a visit and were very glad that we did. We were welcomed warmly by all the staff and firstly went to the cafe for some light refreshment. I prefer to have a vegan meal and the server very kindly offered toast with vegan butter and jam, as the other option was quite substantial. I also obtained plant milk with my huge Americano coffee. The cafe is set within a gallery area exhibiting work produced an on-site studio where there are many community projects, as well as having unique hand crafted items for sale, alongside the main museum offerings. There are thousands of hats and headdresses to see and lots to try on, spanning styles, eras and cultures worldwide. The factory floor has lots of information about hat production with regard to materials used and production techniques. There are original pieces of machinery and a reconstruction of the manager's office. It's really great that there is no entrance fee, so everyone can enjoy visiting, but there are guided tours for which there is a fee, should one prefer. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
