Parkwood National Historic Site的点评
点评：Today my husband and I visited Parkwood National Historic Site. Our tour guide, Sofia, did a terrific job of guiding us through the home and gardens and we really enjoyed it! I highly recommend going on her tour! We would have appreciated more information on Sam McLaughlin, owner of Parkwood and one of Canada's top industrialists in the early to mid-part of the 20th century (perhaps a brief biography of McLaughlin could be available in the gift shop or at the beginning of the tour). His story is truly remarkable. The gift shop was very disappointing as it did not include any items regarding McLaughlin - not a book, not a DVD, and nothing to do with the estate itself (I recommend the Stephen Leacock Museum in Orillia where the gift shop offers items that are not only about Leacock himself but are consistent with his occupation and times). Typically visitors like to purchase a memento to remind them of their visit. I can't help but wonder how many missed sales there are. Finally, we ate at the Tea House and the service was very poor and the food was terrible. My husband and I both had the Australian beef pie, which tasted bad was not hot, there was barely any salad dressing on the salad and we had to wait 15 minutes before the server came to take our order (I had to search her out to get service). Parkwood National Historic Site is a wonderful facility with beautiful gardens but I believe it could be so much better.
