点评：Hubs and I did this trip 25+ years ago - and we were in Key West for a mini family reunion and decided to go with us - my sister and I are in our seventies, my much younger nephew and 17-year old niece decided to go as well. There have been upgrades from the last trip - although we were impressed back then as well. Organized to the max, comfortable ferry ride, friendly crew and staff, food offerings are good value, lots of extras provided like snorkel equipment and tours in the original cost. Hubs and I have senior national park passes that inlude discounts for additional persons - huge savings and value all around.
All that said -the island itself is the prize in the package! It was a glorious day - the beach is pretty white sand and the water was clear and calm. Notwithstanding the historic value - the fort's architecture and size are monolithic as well as fascinating. Considering the era in which it was constructed as well as the difficulty of obtaining building material due to its remoteness- it was quite a feat.
Important to note that water is available to passengers during the entire trip as it is HOT, and HUMID. Be well prepared with sunscreen, hats, and clothing appropriate for the tropics...and hydrate often.
