Great staff, nice new update
The Lewis And Clark National And State Historical Parks的点评
点评:I took a little solo trip to Astoria to visit this museum and collect a few cancellation stamps on my National Park Passport. It just so happened that I showed up at the exact day and time of an opening of an update to the museum. That worked out!
The inside part of the museum was smaller than I expected but very clean and accessible. There is a medium sized theatre that showed two films about the location. There was also a beautiful art piece depicting their journey in the very back. I wish there was more information about the Native Americans and (how they saved Lewis and Clark’s bacon) York, Clark’s enslaved person throughout the museum. However, I acknowledge that perhaps not a lot is known.
The real treat is the fort replica! Amongst the giant trees is a fort that’s been built based on the original fort. It was very interesting to see how they used the natural resources and space to their advantage. For example they built “loft beds” so that their travel and daily life items could be stored underneath. Beyond the fort are multiple water sites and trails that are so peaceful that it makes it easy to picture the history that took place there. There is hiking available if you are interested through stunning trees that are home to much wildlife. Or you can loop around back to the parking lot.
Tip: This location offers I believe it was 6 National Parks Passport stamps if you are a collector- enjoy!
