Zoo babies, a pooping hippo and a great giraffe talk!

点评：We visited on Saturday as a group of adults and young children to celebrate a third birthday. Most of us have membership, so we took it at a slow pace and the kids had a great time running around, scooting, balancing on logs and playing together - and seeing the animals, of course!
On entry, we were thrilled to see the World Record Painting by Numbers! My kids and I took part earlier in the year, so it was great to see the end result in the flesh! Unfortunately we couldn't remember which part we painted though. 🤦🏻♀️
We caught some of the bird show and particularly loved the ending. One of my sons was also very excited to see the big owl.
The giraffes are always a hit with the kids, and this time we also managed to make it to the giraffe talk. Luke did a fantastic job - presenting so many interesting facts about the giraffes - he engaged adults and kids alike. He's genuinely the best presenter I've seen and so knowledgeable about the animals while also being really friendly. (I've been coming to the zoo since I was a child, so I've seen a fair few talks in my time 😅). I had no idea what reticulated meant, nor did I know about the valve which prevents too much blood flow to their brain - it's always fun to learn new things even after years of visiting the zoo!
Another massive hit for everyone was being able to see the new lion and cheetah cubs! The cheetahs came right up to the glass and the kids (and adults) were thrilled to see them so close up!
The kids loved watching the pygmy hippo poo, too. 😂

长颈鹿总是能吸引孩子们的注意力，这次我们还幸运地赶上了关于长颈鹿的讲解环节。卢克表现得非常出色——他介绍了许多关于长颈鹿的有趣知识，牢牢吸引了大人和小孩的注意力。他真的是我见过的最出色的讲解员了——对动物了如指掌，为人也极其友善。（我从小就开始来动物园，所以也听过不少讲解呢😅）。我之前根本不知道“网状”是什么意思，也从来没听说过那种能防止血液过量流入大脑的“瓣膜”——即便已经来动物园多年，能学到新知识还是特别有趣！
最让大家都兴奋不已的，就是能够亲眼看到新出生的狮子和猎豹幼崽啦！猎豹们直接走到了玻璃墙前，孩子们（还有大人们）都兴奋得不得了，能如此近距离地看到它们！
孩子们也特别喜欢观察侏儒河马拉屎的样子呢。😂
