Check in was online in advance - the number of reminders I got to check in was excessive. The reception desk is not always staffed so I presume this is why they operate such an aggressive 'reminders to check in' policy.
I had requested an accessible room. This was allocated without issue.
Bar food was good & service was good, except for the Saturday night when one barman was left to deal with all drinks orders - this made service very slow, especially as there were a couple of groups there who were drinking cocktails.
There was 'music' in the bar that night too. It was not needed & few seemed to be paying any attention to the man playing. There's a grand piano in the bar. Unobtrusive piano music would have been far more appropriate, or indeed no music atall!
My experience was spoiled by the COLD of my room. I was given a fan heater to supplement the radiator as soon as I complained. For the extortionate price I was charged for a solo occupied room, I would have expected that the heat would be on in advance of my check in & not on a timer. The very fancy towel rail in the bathroom remained cold, even after I highlighted this to reception staff.
Breakfast was good. Again staff here were helpful overall.
There was plenty of hanging & storage space in the room. However, accessing the hangers was very difficult for me at 5'6". How is a wheelchair user supposed to hang their clothes?
