点评:We visited the Laman Padi rice museum as part of a cruise ship excursion. They opened up the museum just for the tour groups as otherwise it would have been closed (due to it being Christmas Day). The indoor museum was just okay, and our tour guide gave us a talk on the process of growing rice, however when we went outside the visit became much more interesting as we had the opportunity to get interactive which made our stop here a lot of fun.
The local guide at the museum showed us the various stages of rice growing, how it was planted and harvested, how they extract the rice 'padi' from the plants by bashing it, etc. We also saw them demonstrate how to cut open and grate coconuts (including a chance to drink the coconut juice straight out of the fruit) and we got to see some of the water buffaloes and the national flower of Malaysia.
I wasn't expecting much from the visit but the interactive nature of the outside tour made this one of the most fun stops we made on our various cruise excursions. Well worth considering if visiting Langkawi.
