芝加哥海军码头莎士比亚剧院的点评
点评：I came to Chicago just to see this production. Bought my ticket and made a hotel reservation.
The May evening of the performance was one of the first nice afternoon/evenings weatherwise and when my Uber driver dropped me off at the main entrance to the pier there were people everywhere- EVERYwhere. It was like a busy day at Disney World. I was not quite ready for that. And the theatre is good bit down on the pier so there was plenty of people to push through. This may not be your case - just a warning.
Everyone at the theater was very friendly and the staff at will call gave me a ticket for a free drink when I told them I had ventured from Atlanta to Chicago just to see the show and I was headed back in the morning. Very nice of them.
The space is clean and modern and the seats are all close to the stage. It looks as if it is 3/4 thrust but for this production it was practically in the round as there was very little use made of the upstage end except for setting the scene.
The performance space is on an upper level with terraces out to see the lake and the city skyline. It appears that the elevators go down directly to parking.
I enjoyed the show and will look for another production that interests me in the future and hopefully can work that into more than one day in Chicago.
