点评:One of the many estates in the Franschhoek Valley, that can trace it's beginning back to the French Huguenots. Grande Provence Wine Estate has 330-year history, while nestled in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley with a dramatic mountain range backdrop. The estate’s origins trace back to 1694, when Pierre Joubert, a French Protestant fleeing religious persecution, arrived in the Cape with fellow Huguenots. It is one of our favorite estates to visit and on arriving you can feel that it oozes history, with its Cape Dutch architecture.
We used the Wine Tram to get to Grand Provence for a wine tasting. This was our UK visitors first experience of estate wine tasting and the Staff made it a real treat for them. They chose the Angel Tears tasting, while we went for the more traditional whites and reds.
In all we had an excellent relaxed hour sitting under the trees in the well manicured gardens, with a scattering of art and sculptures, surrounded by some of the historic buildings. We ended up also having a quick taste of the Angels Tears and dully added some of these to our order
All too soon it was time to head back to the Tram.
