A Grand, Welcoming Station With Space, Comfort & Exceptionally Helpful Staff

点评：Penn Station truly surprised me. Even with only a short stop here, it was clear this is a station designed to move huge crowds while still offering comfort, space, and a sense of order.
We arrived very early in the morning, before the rush began, and the large open foyers immediately stood out. They felt bright, airy, and far more spacious than I expected from such a major New York hub. With the city still waking up, the station had a calm, almost impressive stillness — a rare moment of quiet in a place that usually buzzes with energy.
What really elevated the experience was the staff. We needed help coordinating our onward journey because our route involved both Amtrak and NJ Transit — the only rail line that goes to Atlantic City and completely separate from Amtrak. The team at Penn Station walked us through everything, checked our timings, and ensured our full route — New York → Philadelphia → Atlantic City → Washington DC — would run smoothly. Their confidence and clarity made the whole process feel effortless, and they were genuinely warm and patient.
The station itself offers everything you need for an early start:
• plenty of food options,
• a comfortable lounge area with charging points,
• clean, well‑maintained spaces,
• and a steady flow of travellers already beginning their day.
I even loved the small post office tucked inside — perfect for sending off a postcard home, which I did for my daughter.
Our trains ran exactly as expected. We tried both coach and unreserved on Amtrak, and both were comfortable and easy. The NJ Transit train was older and more worn, but clean, spacious at that hour, and completely reliable.
For a first‑time visit, Penn Station delivered far more than I expected — organised, welcoming, and supported by staff who genuinely care about getting you where you need to go. I’d happily travel through here again.
