点评:Having taken the scenic drive along Loch Na Keal you are then met by an expanse of bay with crystal clear blue waters and an arc of pristine white sands that is Calgary Bay. On my previous visit to Mull this was one of our go to swimming beaches. Although the water is chilled the swim is invigorating to say the least.
On this visit it was just a stroll across the machair and along those white sands to the vison of the beauty that the bay offers. It is not too difficult to close your eyes and imagine your on some tropical beach. It only lack the palm trees. On those occasional sunny Scottish days this one beach I would spend the day on. Braai, wine sea and sun what a paradise and it is free!
There is a small car park at the head of the bay which would not hold many cars so this is a beach that would have plenty of space even on a busy day.
There is a small hut at the car park, providing snacks and ice creams, unfortunately it was not open the day we stopped there.
For the history buffs the Calgary Cemetery is just a short walk from the car park. It is a small, old burial ground, originally known as Cladh Mhuire (St. Mary's). It is a peaceful, scenic spot It also has an historical significance, as the departure point for many emigrants during the Highland Clearances.
