Longer Version of the Hermitage Foreshore Walking Trail
玫瑰湾至尼尔森公园漫步的点评
点评：This is essentially the Hermitage Foreshore Walking Trail plus an additional section, that starts at the Rose Bay ferry.
From the ferry, you walk through Lyne Park and along the foreshore, then past Rose Bay Beach before heading uphill to the start of the Hermitage Trail.
In this first section, both the park and beach are scenic areas but for the rest of the walk, you are mostly walking along pedestrian pavements and urban streets. It is by far the least interesting part of the walk.
If you are catching the ferry to Rose Bay, then it makes sense to walk from here but for anyone else, I’d recommend skipping this part altogether.
Instead drive (or catch a bus) to Bayview Hill Rd and walk downhill to the very end, where you’ll see a large National Parks sign and map, marking the start of the Hermitage Trail (see separate review for the Hermitage Trail).
From this point, you will be walking along boardwalks, bush paths and across sandy beaches and will avoid urban roads altogether.
The walk from Rose Bay is 3.5km (one way) and although it can be done in under an hour, you will want to allow a lot more time to stop at various lookout points.
The highlights are Milk Beach, Hermit Bay Beach, historic Strickland House, Shark Beach and Nielsen Park.
It is worth noting that after you have left Rose Bay, there are no facilities until you get to Nielsen Park, although there is a porta-loo at Strickland House for emergencies. At Nielsen Park, you’ll find changing rooms, outdoor showers, clean toilets and a kiosk.
The trail can of course be walked in reverse.
Entry to the National Park is free.
