点评:We went to the public beach for the morning after having visited the NP beach the day before. There was some evidence of litter that we hadn’t seen inside the Park and the water was less clear but it’s a nice enough spot.
Having been approached by someone looking after sun beds we realised that this would not be like Thailand or Goa with modest charges. We were quoted $20. However we walked on and, explaining that we were only there for a couple of hours, were offered a much better deal by another man, which we accepted. We naively ordered a couple of drinks from the minder without asking the price. Although it was at the beach we should have asked for a printed menu.
When it was time to leave we calculated what we should be paying based on the agreed price and hotel drinks charges. Our friendly beach vendor presented us with a written bill showing much inflated drinks prices, tax and service charge. Approximately double what we had calculated.
An argument ensued but we stood our ground, added a few more colones for good measure and handed it over. The fact that he didn’t follow us, call in any heavies or threaten us with the police suggests that he was trying it on.
Just read some other reviews and see that it’s common practice.
