点评:The small garden on the former estate of the Daimyo to the Hosakawa family saw only a few visitors on the day we were there.
The large pond with an arched bridge at one end, and lots of pine trees got up in yukitsuri rope work, (the winter rig of lines protecting the limbs from breakage due to snow) were all very photogenic.
The restored pavilion at one end of the pond was once the family residence. It is now open to the public. The second-floor offers a different view of the pond and provides further photos ops. You can take tea in the building, but we passed on this.
There were enough colorful maples to keep us happy the day we visited. Little waterfalls and ducks added to our enjoyment and provided more photo opportunities. We also climbed up the hill behind the garden for yet another perspective on the place.
All in all it’s a peaceful and pleasant place and entrance is free!
