点评:With our excellent private birdwatching guide, Hugo Santa Cruz, we stopped overnight in Samaipata on the way to and from the Red-fronted Macaw Community Reserve, before heading to Amboro' National Park. It would have been a shame not to visit this small but charming town, at over 1,600 meters above sea level, with well-preserved colonial houses. There are vineyards, restaurants, shops, and a lovely market. The atmosphere is relaxed, but it is best known for the ruins of the famous El Fuerte, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is well worth a visit. Between the Fuerte and the town, there's a beautiful private garden open to the public that has become home to many hummingbirds: the El Refugio de Colibríes Ecopark. If you have time, we recommend visiting it.
It was very pleasant and we felt safe walking even at night through the streets painted with murals, each one more beautiful than the last. In the center, besides the cathedral and the market, there are countless restaurants and bars for all tastes.
We stayed at the El Pueblito Resort, which is located on a hill above the town, just a 5 minute drive away. It was cool at night
