点评:Kotor Cathedral is named after Saint Trypho, the city's patron saint. The number 1166 on the left tower indicates the cathedral's construction in 1166, while 2016 on the right tower signifies its most recent restore completion.
Having suffered multiple damage and reconstruction, the cathedral blends different architectural styles. It presents a mix of Romanesque, Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque elements. Some sections retain early architectural elements. Remnants of Byzantine frescoes can also be found inside.
Don't miss the Sacral Art Museum on the second floor (which is quite high), a modern museum in a newly built and renovated structure. It displays religious relics, silver ornaments, paintings, sculptures, robes, marble altars, and more. It also houses the remains of Saint Trypho. It is an extremely important museum of religious treasures in the Balkans.
The walls of the staircase leading to the second floor display stone sculptures from the original building, salvaged after the earthquake. The stairs are very long, be careful not to fall.
Admission costs 4 euros, but it’s definitely worth it.
