点评:After hearing and reading so many positive reviews about the island, we were really looking forward to visiting it, but unfortunately, we must admit we were quite disappointed and felt it was a waste of time and money. The cruise boat that took us to three islands was nice, and the crew was amazing, but there's little to see or do on the islands, including Lopud.
So, Lopud - you can stroll along the promenade along the coast, passing restaurants, cafes, and small souvenir shops, where prices are quite high (compared to the prices in the old town, the difference is only a couple of euros).
The botanical garden, so well advertised by locals, needs a lot of maintenance; at the moment, it looks like an abandoned nature reserve with lots of bushes and overgrown flowerbeds. There are no signs indicating the plants or trees, no indication of their origins or age. We were told that herbs from all over the world are stored there—sorry, but we didn't see any of that.
You can walk to the sandy beach on the other side of the island; it took us about 20 minutes each way—an easy, leisurely stroll with kids. Lots of locals drive golf carts, offering taxi services—if you want a ride, the ride will cost about 4 euros.
We weren't lucky with the weather, so we couldn't stay on the beach for long, but the beach itself was also a disappointment—quite dirty and not yet ready for the season, even though we were there in May. There is a free toilet on the beach, but you'll have to pay 1 euro to wash your feet, which is a bit silly , cause foot shower is a basic must have for a European beaches .
There's also a cafe, but we didn't go there. There are sun loungers, but since the weather wasn't conducive to swimming, we weren't charged for sitting on them for about 10 -15 minutes. We didn't find anything else interesting on this island, so I can only advise going there on a hot day just for swimming and being on the sandy beach.
